Privacy Policy

Overview

OPSY, LLC (“OweJoy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides tools for groups to organize getaways, record expenses, calculate balances, and open third-party payment apps. This policy explains how we handle personal information.

Information we collect

• Account information, such as name, email address, authentication identifiers, and profile image.
• A phone number when you choose phone verification, plus verification status and consent records. We do not store the one-time code.
• Getaway information, participants, invitations, events, receipt images and details, expense categories, split selections, balances, and settlement status.
• Payment-status information for OweJoy unlock purchases. Payment processors handle payment credentials; OweJoy does not store full card details.
• Technical and security information, including device, browser, network, request, error, and fraud-prevention data.

How we use information

We use information to provide and secure OweJoy, authenticate accounts, verify phone ownership, store and synchronize getaways, calculate expense allocations, support purchases, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, comply with law, and improve reliability.

Optional product analytics

If you allow usage analytics, we record your account identifier, screens visited, web or iOS platform, timestamps, random session and journey identifiers, and an internal getaway identifier. We also measure receipt-save milestones, upgrade offers, plan choices, checkout attempts, and categorized purchase outcomes, matching these journeys to verified purchases to understand conversion. We use these first-party records to understand feature usage and improve OweJoy. We do not collect receipt contents, contact details, payment details, keystrokes, or session recordings for this purpose, and do not send these events to advertising networks. Reports cover a rolling 90-day window; older events are removed during analytics processing. You can stop future collection in Account → Sign-in & security on each device. We respect supported browser privacy signals. Deleting your account also deletes its product analytics events. Essential purchase, security, and operational records are separate from optional analytics.

Google sign-in data

If you choose Sign in with Google, OweJoy receives your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image through Firebase Authentication. We use these details to create or locate your OweJoy account, sign you in, display your identity in the app, and secure your account. Google sign-in does not give OweJoy access to your Gmail messages, contacts, Drive files, or calendar. We store the account details and authentication identifiers while your OweJoy account is active. You can delete your account in the app or request deletion at support@owejoy.com. We share this data with Firebase and Google Cloud to operate authentication, and your displayed name or profile image may be visible to other participants in getaways you join. We do not sell Google sign-in data or use it for advertising.

Service providers and disclosures

We disclose information as needed to providers that operate OweJoy, including Google Cloud and PostgreSQL hosting, Firebase authentication, Twilio phone verification and fraud protection, Stripe web payments, Apple in-app purchases, and payment apps you choose to open. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect people or OweJoy, complete a business transaction, or with your direction.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share phone numbers or SMS consent information with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Group information

People with access to a getaway may see participant names, expenses, receipts, allocations, balances, and activity relevant to that getaway. Only add information you are authorized to share. OweJoy does not route or hold money between friends.

Retention and deletion

We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, legal obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and enforcement. You can delete your account in OweJoy. Owned getaway data and your access to shared getaways are removed as described in the deletion flow; limited records may remain where required by law, security, backups, or another user's legitimate records.

Your choices and rights

You may decline optional phone verification, update information in the service, withdraw SMS consent, or delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, and to appeal or complain to a regulator. Contact us to exercise a request; we may verify your identity first.

International processing

OweJoy and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. Local privacy rights continue to apply as provided by law.

Security and children

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system is completely secure. OweJoy is not directed to children under 13, and users must be at least 18 to create an account.
