Agreement and eligibility
These Terms govern your use of OweJoy, provided by OPSY, LLC. By creating an account or using OweJoy, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement.
What OweJoy does
OweJoy helps groups record expenses, calculate suggested shares and balances, and open third-party services such as Venmo or Cash App. OweJoy is not a bank, wallet, escrow, money transmitter, payment processor, debt collector, accountant, or financial adviser. Friends’ money never passes through OweJoy. Users remain responsible for reviewing calculations and completing or disputing payments directly.
Accounts and group content
Provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and promptly notify us of unauthorized access. You are responsible for content you add and must have permission to upload receipts, identify participants, and invite people. Do not add sensitive payment credentials, government identifiers, or unrelated private information to receipts or notes.
Purchases and subscriptions
The getaway organizer may buy a one-time Getaway Pass at the price displayed before purchase. The current price is $7.99 per getaway, with no per-person charge. Frequent organizers may instead purchase Organizer Annual for $29.99 per year. Organizer Annual renews automatically each year unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. It unlocks eligible expense features on getaways the subscriber organizes while the subscription remains active. Cancellation stops future renewal; access continues through the paid period. Plans are subject to the fair-use limits shown at purchase and are never included in group balances. Guests do not pay OweJoy. Web purchases are processed by Stripe. iOS purchases are processed through Apple’s in-app purchase system and can be managed in the purchaser’s App Store subscription settings. Taxes may apply. Except where required by law or the applicable store’s rules, purchases are final and non-refundable.
SMS verification program
If you affirmatively opt in, OweJoy may send a one-time transactional security code to the mobile number you provide. Message frequency varies based on your requests. Standard message and data rates may apply. Consent is optional and is not a condition of using OweJoy’s core expense features. Reply STOP to stop messages or HELP for help, or contact support@owejoy.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do not send SMS marketing under this program.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse OweJoy, break the law, violate others’ rights, access another person’s account, interfere with security, automate abusive requests, reverse engineer protected portions of the service, send invitations without the recipient’s permission, or use OweJoy for fraud, harassment, or unlawful collection.
Third-party services
OweJoy links to and relies on third-party services. Their terms, availability, fees, decisions, and transactions are outside our control. Opening a payment app does not confirm payment; users must verify settlement themselves.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may restrict access to protect users, comply with law, or address misuse. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may update these Terms with notice appropriate to the change; continued use after they become effective constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OweJoy is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. OPSY, LLC is not responsible for user-entered data, allocation decisions, interpersonal disputes, missed or incorrect payments, travel losses, or third-party services. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability relating to OweJoy will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us during the preceding 12 months. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so they may not apply to you.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold OPSY, LLC harmless from third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of OweJoy, your content, or your violation of another person’s rights or these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by Idaho law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to applicable consumer law, disputes will be brought in state or federal courts located in Idaho. Mandatory rights under the laws where you reside are not limited by this section.
